Norbert Koenigsfeld, from Cedar Rapids area entered the chase on January 27th with a 103 mile ride on a 46X18 Fixie!!! With 7:32hrs of ride time - his average speed on the lonley hundy was nearly 14 miles an hour - impressive considering it's A)January B)he was on dirt C)he was alone and D)he was riding a fixie!! His data is pictured>

Meanwhile, Dennis Grelk is going for all three cups - the Cup O'Dirt, the watered down version of a Cup O'Mississippi Mud and the metric verstion 1/2 Liter O'Dirt! His latest info is posted below - and counts for his 2nd metric century of 2008!
Dennis Grelk's Ride
Paul Jacobson, a Cup O'Mississippi Mud recipient in 2007 nailed a metric century this weekend (Feb 2nd) as well.
Mostly, what I'm wondering is this: Did Dennis and Paul see their shaddow while riding on Groundhogs Day?
By the way - in case you are wondering - you could earn all three cups - but you'd have to ride 18 full centuries and 12 metric centuries.... all in one year! You can't count the same century for 2 different cups... in other words, if you want the Cup O' Mississippi Mud AND the 1/2 Liter O'Dirt - you'd have to do a full dozen metric centuries PLUS 6 full dirty centuries. Make sense???
Keep riding! Peace - Dave

I dunno, it was that liquid grey all morning, so no shadows then. But the sun came out in the afternoon so I'm hoping for more snow!

No shadow for me as most of my ride was after dark! I think two of the three cups sounds like a doable goal!
Don't ride for the cups folks - cuz they so don't exist. At least I have not seen one yet, excepting online images of course. Not the first time I have been hornswagggled by a promoter but this one hurts the most. Ow!
Sniff...
In other thoughts, it is nice to see everyone is getting out, looks like many cups will need to be made this year? Someday maybe demand will be so high I will be telling whippersnappers in my rusty old man voice that I remember when they used to make them cups by hand right here in the U.S.A. hack. cough. weeze.
I'm not doing this for the cups. I'm doing this for the dirt.
